Congratulations on your new Comal from CEMCUI!!!
We want to ensure that you can fully enjoy your Comal for years to come. To help you get started, we have put together some simple steps to clean and cure your new Comal.
- Wash the cazo with warm water and mild soap. Use a soft sponge or cloth to scrub gently.
- Rinse with water and dry the cazo thoroughly.
- You will now heat your cazo. Start by applying a thin layer of oil. Use a soft cloth to apply a thin layer of oil to the inside of the cazo. (You can use vegetable oil, canola oil, or any other oil that you have on hand.) Be sure to cover the entire interior of the cazo.
- Place the cazo on the stove and turn the heat on low. Allow the cazo to heat up slowly. This will help the oil to penetrate the copper and create a non-stick surface.
- After the pot has heated for about 20 minutes, turn off the heat and allow the pot to cool completely.
- Use a soft cloth to wipe off any excess oil from the pot. You want to remove any oil that did not absorb into the copper.
Note: You may need to repeat this process several times, depending on the condition of your cazo. You will know that the pot is cured when it develops a dark patina.
