Masterpiece fusion of a chameleon, armadillo, & jaguar one-piece alebrije wood carving made in Oaxaca, Mexico by Nestor Melchor and his wife Leticia. This beautiful work of art was handcrafted out of a single piece of copal wood. Copal wood is sustainably sourced in the fields surrounding the small towns of San Martin Tilcajete & Arrazola and is the wood of choice for wood carvers in Oaxaca. Many months went into creating this exceptional piece. From curing, carving, sanding & painting the wood. An alebrije can take up to 15 months to complete depending on the size and complexity of the piece.
