Elegant Zapotec Jaguar - Oaxacan Alebrije Wood Carving

Beautiful one-piece jaguar wood carving by the very popular and talented Nicolas Morales. Nicolas is known for his use of dark colors, in particular black, as well as his use of the pointilism technique in many of his carvings. The bright Zapotec patterns along the tail pair well with the colors used on the ears and give a nice contrast to the darker colors used on the rest of the carving. A great work of Mexican folk art by one of the best in Oaxaca.
